Brief History of L.S. College, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India

                                    The most august institution and alma mater of a large number of celebrities L.S.College, Muzaffarpur was founded by Babu Langat Singh on 3rd July 1899. The College, was started in a two-storeyed building at Saraiyaganj mohalla in Muzaffarpur town area, born with a name of Bhumihar Brahman College.

                                    The present site of the college was selected by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the then teacher of this College, a great patriot to the core and later on became first President of India. In the year 1915 it was rechristened as Greer Bhumihar Brahman College and was declared a Government College.

                                    The present magnificent building designed on Balliol College of Oxford was constructed between 1915 & 1919. The post-graduate and undergraduate teachings were jointly conducted at this College till 1979 before bifurcation of P.G. departments. After independence the present name of the College was again changed. In 1952 the college was declared constituent unit of Bihar University.
